Sometimes the most interesting photographic opportunities are the ones you could never have planned.

During a road trip along the south coast, we stopped at Beachy Head only to find the entire landscape disappearing into a thick bank of fog.

Not quite the coastal views we'd been hoping for.

But with a McLaren 600LT sitting in front of me and a camera close to hand, it quickly became an opportunity too good to miss.

The dense fog removed almost everything from the background, allowing the car's dramatic shape and distinctive details to become the focus.

The resulting photographs have a dark, atmospheric quality that would have been difficult to recreate deliberately.

A reminder that automotive photography is as much about recognising an opportunity as it is about planning the perfect shot.
